Using the Bible as our foundation we will honor God by growing in faith and love, sharing Jesus and giving generously

Senior Pastor David R. Fisher

Pastor Dave was born in Evansville, Indiana, and lived in Columbus, Ohio, and Las Vegas, Nevada, before moving to Phoenix, Arizona in 1974 where he graduated from Trevor Browne High School in 1975. He was active at Concordia Lutheran Church in Phoenix and graduated from Arizona State University, cum laude, with a B. A. in Russian. He attended Wartburg Theological Seminary, Dubuque, Iowa, and graduated in 1986 with a Master of Divinity Degree. In 1980 Pastor Dave married his wife Victoria and they have two grown daughters, Laura and Melissa.

Ordained a pastor in the American Lutheran Church his first call was as associate pastor at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, Lake Havasu City, Arizona. While in Lake Havasu Pastor Dave also served as the staff chaplain for Havasu Samaritan Regional Hospital. In July 1991 he began a solo call at Calvary Lutheran Church in Tucson, Arizona. In 1999 Pastor Dave resigned his call at Calvary to move to the Denver area.

First serving as an interim pastor for St. Andrew Lutheran church in Arvada, CO, Pastor Dave was called to pastor Joy Lutheran Church, Parker, CO, in August 2000. In December of 2009 Pastor Dave resigned his call as Senior Pastor at Joy and subsequently joined the certified clergy list of Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ. He is currently serving as Pastor of Spirit of Hope Lutheran Church, a new LCMC congregation in Parker, Colorado.

Pastor Dave describes himself as theologically traditional and orthodox as opposed to progressive and revisionist. He believes everything in the Apostles’ Creed to be literally true (e.g., virgin birth and bodily resurrection of Jesus). While not a total biblical literalist (context and genre matter) he believes that the scriptures are the inspired and ultimate source and norm for faith and life. That means the Bible guides, judges and corrects our lives. Our lives do not judge or correct the Bible. He is excited and grateful to God for the opportunity to help establish Spirit of Hope Lutheran Church as a Christian community of love that helps people become and live as followers of Jesus Christ.

Lead Pastor Wendy Poch

Pastor Wendy was born in Libertyville, IL, grew up on an apple orchard, and lived in both northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin before moving to Parker, Colorado in 2008. While she now calls Colorado home, and will root for both the Rockies and the Broncos, she remains a loyal fan of the Chicago Cubs (and Chicago-style pizza, too!). She is a cradle Lutheran who took a journey through the LCA, ELCA, LCMS and is now home in her much beloved LCMC. She has been a member of Spirit of Hope Lutheran Church since 2011.

Pastor Wendy graduated from Badger High School in Lake Geneva, WI in 1991. She attended Carthage College and the University of Wisconsin Whitewater as a music education major before marrying her husband Glenn in 1994. After homeschooling her now adult children (Tiffany and Dylan) for 15 years, she earned her BA in Liberal Arts from Thomas Edison State University in 2017.

While simultaneously finishing her BA, Pastor Wendy also began her seminary journey at the Institute of Lutheran Theology (www.ilt.edu) in the fall of 2016. At this time, after four years of service as our youth leader, she also began serving the congregation as our pastoral intern. Pastor Wendy also served as a volunteer chaplain for the NICU at Parker Adventist Hospital from 2017-2018. In February of 2019, Spirit of Hope commissioned and called Wendy as our Associate Pastor on an LCMC contract call. In May of 2020, she graduated with her Masters of Divinity (MDiv.), was ordained at Spirit of Hope, and is now a fully certified pastor for Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ (www.lcmc.net).

On June 28, 2020 Spirit of Hope called Pastor Wendy to enter into a pastoral succession with Pastor Dave, who will be retiring on April 30, 2021. During this transition period, she will serve as our Associate Pastor until February 1, 2021 at which point she will become our Lead Pastor. On May 1, 2020 Pastor Wendy will become the solo pastor of our congregation.

Her favorite Bible verse is Psalm 37:5 “Commit your way to the Lord, trust in Him, and He will act”.
